Precision Ketogenic Therapy

Precision Ketogenic Therapy (PKT) is a dietary therapy to reduce seizures. Carbohydrates are reduced and the calories are replaced with fat. PKT is frequently used when other therapies for epilepsies such as medications have failed. PKT requires a very precise and personalized dietary prescription. It involves a significant amount of work on the part of the caregivers. The details of what is involved can be found in the videos below. The videos cover different routes of feeding used by different patients and what to expect at your first visit. Below the videos are forms that you can use to ask for a consultation.

Precision Ketogenic Therapy

This is the second video in a series about Precision Ketogenic Therapy, or PKT. This video aims to describe PKT in more detail. We cover the goals of PKT, what a ketogenic ratio is, and how food composition plays a role in this ratio.

Typical Diet Vs PKT

This is the third video in a series about Precision Ketogenic Therapy, or PKT. This video will clarify major differences between a typical American diet and the PKT diet. Changes in both food and metabolic processes of the body are addressed.

This is the fourth video in a series about Precision Ketogenic Therapy, or PKT. This video goes through the process of initiating you or your child onto PKT. The information in this video is specific to the University of Florida Precision Ketogenic Therapy program. A PKT interest visit, pre-initiation, initiation, and clinic visits are discussed and explained.

Meal Making – Oral
